Environmental Benefits:
Currently much of our power comes from large centralised power generation stations. This power is distributed to the community via the transmission network of wires known as "The Grid". There is an appreciable loss of energy by distributing power this way due to the loss over these wires. Considerable environmental benefit is made when "Distributed Power Generation" is used in conjunction with the more traditional approaches. EarthRise Renewables are at the forefront of implementing this approach and offers it out to you via our Solar Power Farming Program.
Distributed Power Generation:
Distributed power distribution is achieved by placing 1kW solar arrays on as many roofs as possible. These roofs need to be of sufficient standard to achieve the yields desired by the program. All these systems work together to level out the power on "The Grid" and in the process buffer you, the homeowner, from electricity cost increases.
Distributed power generation vs traditional distribution
How does the program work for you?
- You, the homeowner, contact us to indicate your interest. (Online Form or call us)
- We review your site and confirm the roof is suitable for "Solar Farming".
- We advise if it is and offer you to join up.
- A one-off subscription fee of $800 is paid to EarthRise Renewables.
- The program runs for 5 years, the system meter is read annually and a yield charge is invoiced to you from EarthRise Renewables. Typical annual yield charges are $300 based on current market rates.
- Your electricity bill will be reduced by approx 5 units per day when you sign to this program.
- At the end of the 5 year program you keep the system for no extra cost and no further charges are applied.
EarthRise Renewables will conduct an annual maintenance check for no extra charge to you during the term of the program.
Eligibility for the program:
To be eligible to join the program you must -
- Have a household taxable income of less than $100K
- Be an owner/occupier of your home.
- Have a suitable roof/site for Solar Farming. Typical area needed is 5.5m x 2m.
Other considerations:
- Synergy may require your meter to be replaced or reprogrammed. Typical costs for this (charged by Synergy to you) are: $220 for a single phase meter to $650 for a three phase. If you meter doesn't need replacing they will require a re-programming fee of about $60.
- This program requires your eligibility for the SHCP Government rebate. We will complete all necessary application forms on your behalf to confirm if you are.
- It is the homeowners responsibility to ensure the system is covered under the home insurance and to reduce the risk of its theft or damage.
- If the home is sold during the term of the program the new owner assumes the remainder of the term and the subsequent yield charges.
- During the term of the program the system may not be repositioned or changed in any way on the home without prior consent by EarthRise Renewables.
- This program is open for subscription until 15th June 2009.
"The Cost of electricity will go up by at least 10% each year from 2009 for the next 8 years."
- Francis Logan MLA, Minister for Energy.
The above was stated in June 2008 but has now been stated by the government that up to 50% cost increases will be experienced by the Western Australian community over the next 12 months! The time is indeed right to obtain a Solar Power System! |
